Kinh T. Vu, a Vietnamese American adoptee, returns to Saigon, Vietnam for the 37th time in 11 years. On this month-long journey Kinh writes his first song, titled “Viet Nam Xin Loi” (I’m Sorry Vietnam) as he searches for belonging. 4th District documents Kinh’s journey in both documentary and photo essay form, telling Kinh’s story as he finds local friends old and new, visits key locations from his past, and gets a new tattoo representing his deep rooted connection to his lost homeland.
